Err the truth is I went for the test like when I was pregnant and wasn't keen at all to do it cause I was already eyeing for my current job and guess what..I flunk the exam..hehe..

Exam tu memang susah gila, to my standard, la..all sorts of questions dari pagi sampai petang (and oh how much I hate exams)!! I just couldn't wait for it to end.

A lot of general questions, from football to geography, to current events, economics, yada yada yada...and then essay in malay and english..ahh..not to mention math questions too.. I belasah je most of my objective questions :wink:

Wah ramai jugak yang dah amik PTD test apparently? I guess somewhere in life, one was thinking of joining the PTD, like 2-3 of my batchmates. Macam si Zuhairi tu, was earning really well at HSBC, now in PTD, Shihabudin was ex Telekom, also now safely in PTD. ANother friend, Paooz joined PTD straight away after college, he must be eyeing for it long time ago.

And a fellow Petronas Gas engineer in my dept, baru aje quit to join PTD, I barely know him. So Zaha, what's so special about PTD? HEHE

many local companies also have chances to send abroad. frankly when i hear people joining PTD, all that come across my mind is that oversea assignment. Rwanda pun oversea jugak tau.

PTD people always look down on JPA and Pengkhususan (read: Govt Engineers) people. That's a fact I know.

tehehehe, thanks to all well wishers. i think i've done my best, at least i know i'ce did my best in the test hall last weekend. ramai jugak yang attend the test, even some pakcik and makcik. met a senior at university, coming for his 3rd ptd test....walawei, cuak gak ni.

section A was like, "err, why i never know this fact?" the general knowledge was very the general. even naim ahmad was included - who is he btw? the 14 years old kid who got a contract from an english football club isn't he?

section B, "wish there were more time...."

section C, D and E was quite ok. well, hafta wait for another one month and a half for the results to come out. finger crossed :roll:

i checked on the website and it told me that i passed, i still haven't received the letter to go for assessment in INTAN yet. yang amik exam berpuluh ribu, yang pass beribu, yang nak dipanggil assessment beratus, yang dapat interview berpuluh dan yang dapat offer keje berbelas. it's still a long wayyyyyyyy to go.... :wink:

so, i baru lepas 1st stage, 2nd stage belum confirm lagi :roll:

well, dah check through the list. got a few friends in there. 5 of them satu centre with me in sungai petani, the same date. so, not bad ah...ada kaki, semua jadi! :lol:

not only that, boleh singgah kuala and get some pau as well. argh, teringat egg on toast pulak.

my friend said that the the ones who did not pass the time limit were the ones who 'did not' run. so, i'm guessing the time limit will be really lenient to some. i guess you can start by jogging slowly bit by bit from now, 29th april is still a long way :wink:

it will be 2.4km under 12 minutes. checked and verified :wink:

what i am going to do after work today is to measure a 2.4km course around my house (using the car odometer) and then try to jog the distance to get the hang of it before pursuing a time-trial. a three days crash course boleh sukses tak cikun? (knowing you were the great long distance athlete back then)...

gotta RUN for 2.4 km? I've practised for 800m, without recording the time and now, it's 2.4 km? My friends (who got the job) told that they didn't even run! Heh... but, as long as it's good for health, i'm game to try.

sub 45 secs is already Malaysia punya record time kut.

Ask Cikun about the timing, he used to be (and probably still is) a great 400m runner.

i need to achieve 3.33333 meters per minute in order to achieve the 12 minutes mark. never a long distance runner back in koleq days (maybe scoring silver for 400m during form 2), i was more to short distance sprints during form 5. ahahah, imagine the boy who didn't even make it to the 8x100m relay teams either in form 1 or form 2 bagged silver for 200m sprint during form 5 and helped the house win gold for 4x100m. ahaha, those days!

back to the 2.4km jog/run. by the time i reached 1km mark, i am semput already. ahaha, kena cut down ciggies intake before assessment ni :roll:

3.33333 meters per minute? sure not? sounds implausible la. but i do remember breaking it down to 2 minutes per lap. nampak macam senang bila dah break it down that way, tapi still susah! nevertheless, as bad as i am with stamina, on the first try, i went only 30 seconds over the mark. didn't even practice for it. second time around (nak puaskan hati je la), dapat shave off a minute. so, it should be okay for you. i did stop quite a few times hehe, tapi brisk walk la masa stop tu.

wah, mimpilah kalau aku nak dpt 3rd. pernah sekali tu man-man aje sampai garisan penamat, terus dia tiup wisel, phewww, that was close! salah strategy, gatal2 pegi makan meehoon kat dining hall sebelum cross country.

ok...sesi bercerita (kena buat 2 part ni - to maximize the 75 points). right kichi?

started off the journey on thursday evening around 5 pm (there goes the pau). naik dengan another fellow MCOB 98, singgah jap at my parent's house. amik barang sikit and mintak berkat. fetch a friend in gombak and off to sungai petani via PLUS. stop at tapah R&R, saw dunkin donuts (x dapat pau, donut pun jadik). prayers and all, hit the road straight - non stop. eh, we do stop in sungai perak R&R for petrol. had to use PETRONAS as there is no SHELL there. arrived in sungai petani somewhere around 10.30 pm. nak mencarik INTURA ni jadi satu hal pulak and we are racing the time. must reach there before 12 midnight. asked the locals for direction. got there, got the keys to the room from the guard. (yes, they allow you to arrive early). masuk bilik, freshen up. the room is totally nice. macam 3.5 star hotel la. a lucky friend of mine got the room at the top floor. this one comes complete with TV and minibar. we called the room "bilik penginapan JUSA" :lol:

tidur....

next morning, we woke up quite late. most of the participants have arrived. registered ourselves (konon nak dapat No 1, ambik No 112 :roll: ). after registeration, there was an english grammar test. coffee break and then straight to the opening briefing. after that, lunch was served. definitely, the food was great!

after that, at 2.30 pm psychology test. soalan agak kelakar dan mencabar. no 43: saya pernah kecewa dalam percintaan, no 112: saya sering memperkatakan tentang seks. what the...? ok, psychology test done. next was personality test. we concluded that the test was trying to show whether you are the authoritative type or the 'kaji sampai akar umbi' type. both were just our theories.

on the first night, latihan dalam kelas was held. the usual activities...we got the task to find out who drinks plain water and who owns the computer from a set of informations given to each members of the group. apa lagi ek...4 task all in all, 2 in malay, 2 in english. it was more to problem solving skills...

lupa lak, malam tu. gi TT kat nasmir sungai petani with a few friends. a few pun 3 kereta gak. nak buat networking business pun bagus time ni :D

1st day done...

ok, day two...

first activity was case study. solve each problem in groups for about 40 minutes each. as usual, one in malay and one in english. groups are changed from one activity to another. so, you'll meet new faces during each activities. maybe the participants before and after you (in sense of the registeration number) will stick with you on the same group.

after case study, there was a free hour cum research hour from 11 to 1 pm. this is when you prepared your text for pengucapan awamand public speaking which will be held soon after. sapa yang dah siap text awal-awal dari rumah boleh tidur. me? time tu laa nak surf internet and carik topic. last minute hey, got the topics on pemuliharaan hutan for malay and something about blogging culture for english. plagiarism is truly welcomed as long as you present it well. ehehehe :lol:

after lunch, at 2.30 pengucapan awam. in a group of around 20-25 people. you talk about your topic in front of strangers, for 5 minutes only. ok la yang ni. you can talk about anything as long as it doesn't touch the sensitive issues such racism, sex etc, you know the drill. petang, after asar at around 5.15...the most awaited activity. the 2.4km run!. mind set, have to be ego...my friend's idea. "jangan kasi pompuan potong..." the strategy went fine, managed to finish in 13 minutes and 18 seconds. oh ya, in INTURA the time was 14 minutes. trek terlebih jauh kut...beats me.

night activity...public speaking. same format as pengucapan awam but don't translate your pengucapan awam to english. you have to make two topics then.

after that, TT in nasmir again :lol:

ok...day three...

final activity...parliamentiary debate. the group was split into two. one side the government the other the opposition. debate on the topics given.

after that, taklimat penutup was held before lunch.after lunch, semua pulang ke tempat asal :D

apart from going through all the assessment activities, try to have fun and makes new friends. these participants come from all walk of life. and please don't be like a friend of mine. nak ngurat sekali bini orang daa :lol:

the key is, enjoy and have fun but be serious during the activities. although we meet new friends, everyone has one same goal and agenda - to be successful. everybody is for himself/herself during the activities. enjoy the food, enjoy the luxurious room :wink:

i hope i've gave some insight, especially to those who are going to the PAC soon (read: cec).
